Welcome to Bremer County!

Explore the Great Outdoors with Bremer County Conservation!

Since 1958 Bremer County Conservation Board has been involved in numerous programs promoting conservation, recreation, environmental education, public parks, wildlife areas and much more. Bremer County Conservation manages 28 individual parks, wildlife areas and water recreation consisting of nearly 4,300 acres across the county. Parks, preserves, wildlife areas, prairies, river accesses and greenbelts are all available to area residents and visitors.

Bremer County Conservation maintains four public parks for camping. Camping is on a first-come first-serve basis from May 1 - October 31. We do not take reservations.  Campsites at Cedar Bend and Alcock Parks have 50 amp sites available.  North Woods and North Cedar Parks have 30 amp sites available.  Shelters, water, pit toilets, and playground equipment are all available at each park. Restroom and shower facilities are located at all of the parks. Many miles of trails are maintained through all of the Bremer County Conservation Board areas. They traverse through ever-changing forests, uplands and wetland areas. Hikers, cross country skiers and nature enthusiasts can enjoy the beauty of northeast Iowa on Bremer County trails.

Environmental Education (EE) began in Bremer County in 1988 with the intent to provide EE and outdoor recreation programming for the citizens of Bremer County. The EE program interprets the natural resources of the county, as well as promoting the conservation and wise use of those areas. The Bremer County Naturalists develop programs for school groups, youth groups, nursing homes, clubs/organizations and the general public.
