Welcome to Cass County!
Cass County Conservation is located in southwest Iowa and is home to the 1856 Hitchcock House - listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Cass CCB manages 13 individual parks, wildlife areas, historic sites and refuges, including 1 trail: encompassing some 588 acres in the county.
Park Closure: The Hitchcock House is closed to tours for a reconstruction project until further notice. Hunting area, trails and barn rentals are still available. The Hitchcock House was built by Rev. George B. Hitchcock. The Hitchcock House played a major role in moving freedom seekers to Canada prior to the Civil War. The house has been accepted as a site on the National Park Service Underground Railroad Network to Freedom, and is a National Historic Landmark. The Hitchcock House is located in the Hitchcock Recreation Area.
