Welcome to Warren County!

Explore the Great Outdoors with Warren County Conservation!

Warren County Conservation is located in south central Iowa and is home to the Annett Nature Center and a portion of the Great Western Trail to Des Moines. The Warren CCB manages 17 parks, prairies, trails and preserves - encompassing over 2,700 acres across the county. Visitors can find areas to fish, hunt, cross-country ski, picnic, camp, learn and much more on areas being conserved for this generation and generations to come.

Major recreation areas within the Warren County system include Annett Nature Center and Park, Hickory Hills Park, Otter Creek Park, Bank Swallow Bend, Woodland Mounds Preserve, Zo-El Annett Woods and Grant Natureland Park - providing the majority of the modern recreation opportunities within the county.

Camping is available at Otter Creek and Hickory Hills for $5 per night and Grant Park for $20 per night; the enclosed barn at Hickory Hills provides a picturesque setting for corporate outings, family reunions and weddings; open shelters yield spacious and special settings for warm season gatherings; and over 35 miles of trails provide challenging terrain and healthy lifestyle opportunities for any hiking, biking or walking enthusiast! We also reach thousands of people a year with environmental education programming in our parks and throughout the county.
