East Shelter House at Swan Lake State Park

The East Shelter House has a maximum capacity of 160 guests. This shelter house is ADA accessible; both the bathrooms and the kitchen are set up with ADA accessibility. There are a total of 20 round tables set up at the East Shelter House, these tables are 60” in diameter and can seat up to 8 guests. There will be a total of 6 chairs stacked on top of each table and additional chairs can be found in the storage room. In addition to the round tables there are four 8’ rectangular tables that can be set up for your use also found in the storage room.
Any outdoor seating will need to be provided by the renter as all CCCB tables and chairs must remain indoors at all times. Additional Picnic tables can be requested, office staff must have request at least 14 days in advance.
The shelter house comes with a full kitchen including 2 standard size refrigerators, a stove, microwave, coffee pots, and a 10’ island/serving table.
This shelter house is situation on the east side of the lake near the beach. There is a patio on the west side of the shelter house with a beautiful view of the lake, south of the shelter house is a brand-new playground equipment and swing set along with the beach area and kayak launch.

Rental Fee: $175.00 per day
Non-Profit Rental Fee: $125.00 per day

Once you have contacted the Carroll County Conservation office to make a reservation, we will then email you an invoice along with our rental agreement, which are due back within 15 days of making the reservation. We accept the rental fee by cash, check or credit cards (+ credit card fees added), the refundable security deposit does have to be cash or check, and the rental agreement can be mailed back or emailed back to our office.

Reservation can be made on a rolling calendar basis (one year in advance) beginning at 8am. Reservations can be made in person during office hours or by phone call or email.
R U L E S & R E G U L A T I O N S
- The renter is responsible for complete cleanup of the shelter house, there will be a check out list to be completed at arrival. If you checkout list is not completed, you will forfeit your refundable security deposit.
- Renter must be 21 years of age or older to rent the facility or accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
- Maximum capacity of guest may not exceed 160 guests at one time.
- Park Hours are from 5:00am until 10:30pm, quite hours are enforced between 10:30pm and 5:00am
-Swan Lake State Park closes at 10:30pm, this includes the roadway, all traffic through Swan Lake State Park after 10:30pm is monitored.
- Pets must be always kept on a leash no longer than 6ft or kenneled, NO PETS ALLOWED INSIDE ANY CCCB FACILITY. Park users must immediately clean up after their pets. Violators will be ticketed.
- Kegs are not allowed at any of Carroll County Conservation parks or facilities.
DECORATIONS
Outdoor decorations are allowed if they are temporary, free standing directional signs are allowed, they are not allowed to be attached to park furniture, signposts, trees or other facilities.
Indoor decorations Table Decorations ONLY other decorations are allowed as long as they are free standings or not affixed in a way that would damage a facility or any walls/woodwork (tape, tacks, staples, and command hooks/strips can all cause damage). It is your responsibility, as the renter, to remove all decorations. Hanging or draping anything from the rafters is prohibited.
- Performers, Musicians, and DJs are allowed at the East Shelter House facility if they are indoors. When you are renting the East Shelter House, you are only renting the facility. The grounds around the building along with the playground equipment is open to the public as Swan Lake State Park is a public park. Having entertainment outdoors is allowing the general public to join in on your event and/or having the general public complain about noise.
- Event tents are not allowed at the East Shelter House. A small shade tent is ok to be used.
ALCOHOL BEVERAGES
Carroll County Conservation does not provide or sell alcohol.
You may bring your own wine, beer, or other drinks to serve at your event. If you or a vendor will be selling alcoholic drinks (beer, wine, liquor) at your event, you or your vendor will need to have a liquor license. It is the renter’s responsibility to determine if a liquor license is required for the event they are having, and they must follow all state and local laws regarding liquor license requirements. If your event does require a liquor license, you must provide a copy of this document to the CCB office at least 30 days prior to your event.
No minors under the age of 21 may be served any alcohol. By serving alcohol at your event, you assume responsibility for any damages, injuries or other problems that may arise due to the consumption of alcohol.

TABLES, & CHAIRS

In addition to the round tables there are four 8’ rectangular tables that can be set up. You will need to provide your own seating for an outdoor event.

CLEAN-UP POLICY
You, as the renter, are responsible for complete clean-up of the shelter house.
ü All tables and chairs must be wiped down & put back into their original location.
ü Sweep and mop all flooring throughout the shelter house
o Sweep restrooms and remove trash
ü Clean Kitchen area – sink, countertops, floors
o Wipe out the refrigerators, microwave, and stove
ü Vacuum all rugs
ü All refuse must be taken out to dumpster
ü Check surrounding area for trash
ü Clean up and take down all decorations
ü Turn A/C to 78° during the summer months and Heat to 62° during the winter months.
The shelter must be cleaned up and vacated no later than 10:00 PM. Late departure will result in loss of security deposit. CCC Staff should only have to clean and restock restrooms. If the checklist provided is not complete you will forfeit your security deposit.
