Shellrock River Greenbelt and Preserve


Overview

A 7.5 mile bicycle ride along the limestone bluffs on the Shellrock River leads through 590 acres of woods, meadows, and ponds.

Location

The greenbelt is accessible from 295th Street south of Wilkinson Park and Highway 122 west of Nora Springs as well as from the Preserve which is located on Yucca Avenue between 290th and 280th Streets.

Features

This 56-acre forest has an outstanding variety of native wildflowers and an impressive view of the Winnebago River Valley. A concentration of fossils from the Devonian Period can be found on this unique site.
