    • I am 21 years of age or older.
    • ALCOHOL USE. No person or group shall bring, use, have in their possession on any area, beer in a keg, or any other container larger than 40 ounces without first obtaining a special use permit from the Director or his authorized representative. The request for the special use permit shall be made in writing at least two weeks prior to the date of the activity.

    Rental Contract Agreement

    By your agreement with these terms and conditions, you represent that you are 21 years of age or older and that you are authorized to make the reservation on behalf of the group you have listed. You further agree to assume full responsibility for the acts, negligence or omissions of the members of your group while utilizing said facilities. Additionally, you agree that you have read and understand the CANCELLATION and REFUND POLICIES concerning this reservation, and have also read and understand the FACILITY CONTRACT information You are reserving a facility in a Clinton County park. ALL CLINTON COUNTY RULES AND REGULATIONS AND STATE LAWS ARE ENFORCED. Contact the Park Ranger listed on your reservation confirmation email if you have any questions about park rules, policies or special requests. FAILURE TO CLEAN UP THE FACILITY OR SURROUNDING AREA AS OUTLINED, OR FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH PARK RULES OR STATE LAWS MAY RESULT IN ENFORCEMENT ACTION. Clinton County Conservation may take any legal action necessary to recover damages to county property.

    CHECK-IN TIME:       
    Cabins- After 3:00 PM on the day of arrival     

    CHECK-OUT TIME:
    Cabins - Before 1:00 PM on day of departure

    CLEAN-UP
    You are required to cleanup the facility and grounds and return them to the condition you received them. Plan to have your facility cleaned and people departed prior to your scheduled checkout time. Clean-up instructions are posted in the cabin.

    VISITORS
    All visitors (other than registered overnight campers) must depart the area by 10:00 PM, park closing time.

    SMOKING
    Clinton County is a smoke-free environment. Smoking is prohibited in all buildings.

    PARKING
    Parking is confined to designated parking areas. If you anticipate more vehicles than spaces provided, please contact the Park Supervisor in advance. No parking or driving off roadways. 

    Cancellation Policy

     Please consider this policy prior to purchasing your facility reservation.

    SHOULD YOU CHOOSE TO CANCEL A RESERVATION, YOU WILL FORFEIT 100% OF ALL RESERVATION FEES PAID.

    Youth Group Rules

    Organized Youth Groups such as Boy and Girl Scouts, Church groups, 4-H clubs, etc. may obtain a discounted price on facility rental by phoning the Conservation Office at (563) 847-7202. Do Not make an online reservation before phoning our office to verify your discount. If you choose to make your reservation online, you will pay the full rate.

    Refund Policy

    Please understand once your reservation is booked, you prohibit other people from reserving the facility - they therefore go elsewhere to locate a facility for that date. We will observe a NON-REFUNDABLE reservation fee policy with the following exceptions:

    • Accident, serious injury or death of an immediate family member
    • Travel conditions where a substantial risk is required in order to travel such as a winter storm where a travel advisory has been issued
    • We are unable to provide your facility (or like facility) in operable condition for the date of your event
    ALL cancellations or requests for refunds cannot be done online and must be made by calling the Conservation Office at (563) 847-7202.

    DATE CHANGES
    All date changes must be made by calling the Conservation Office at (563) 847-7202. Recognize that we must first administratively cancel your existing online reservation, and then create a second reservation for the new date. An Administrative Fee of $25 will be assessed to complete this transaction. Please consider this procedure prior to making your initial reservation.

    Description

    The Bunkhouse is an approximate 1/4-mile hike from the main road to an area that is referred to as the "Back Valley".  It is a beautiful, isolated getaway spot for those who really want to escape the stress of everyday life for a couple of nights or a couple weeks.

    Heat/AC, small refrigerator, hotplate, toaster, and a coffee pot are available for use. A limited amount of firewood is provided for your stay. Additional firewood may be purchased or packed in. Water must be carried in; hydrants are available seasonally in the main campground. Bedding, towels, and kitchen utensils are not provided.

    Three bunked cots and two single fold-down beds are available (8 persons total), but you must bring your own bedding. Additional mattresses, cots, or sleeping bags can be packed in for larger parties.

    A pit latrine located near the Bunkhouse is available for use. The modern temperature-controlled shower facility located in the Nature Center (year-round) or campground shower building (seasonally) may also be used by Bunkhouse guests.

    Hiking trails, an observation tower and a swinging bridge are all nearby. Cross country skiing is a favorite winter activity.

    The rental cost for this facility is $50/night Monday - Thursday, $60/night Friday - Sunday, payable by Visa or Mastercard. We are unfortunately unable to accept Discover.

    The Bunkhouse is in an isolated portion of the park. It is a 1/4 mile hike to the cabin from the parking area. Bunkhouse renters must pack in all of their supplies. Three bunked cots and two single fold-down beds are available (8 persons total), but you must bring your own bedding. Additional mattresses, cots, or sleeping bags can be packed in for larger parties.

    Water is not available at the Bunkhouse. Bunkhouse users must haul in their own water. Water is available in the main campground. A pit toilet is located near the bunkhouse. Bunkhouse guests may also use the main campground shower house or Nature Center restroom facility.


    Fees

    $50/night Monday through Thursday and $60.00/night Friday through Sunday payable by Visa or Mastercard. Sorry, but we are currently unable to accept Discover cards.

    Clinton County Conservation is located in extreme east-central Iowa along the Mississippi River. The Conservation Board manages 2,030 acres of parks, wildlife areas, preserves and marina (22 individual areas); and is home to the Eden Valley Wildlife Refuge and Rock Creek Marina & Campground.
