    Rental Contract Agreement

    We are pleased that you wish to use the Sac & Fox Overlook Area and Shelter for your event. The use of this area is a privilege and intended to promote Conservation’s natural habitat and the scenic view. Please treat it with care so that others can continue to use it.

    The following rules have been adopted by the Hardin County Conservation Board:

    1. Renters must be 21 years-of-age.
    2.  Pay the $250.00 per-day rental fee plus a separate check for a refundable $100.00 security deposit. The security deposit check will be shredded if the site is vacated in good, clean condition as described in Rules & Conditions (3). The security deposit payment must be received by the office located at 15537 S Ave. Ackley, IA 50601 a week in advance of the event date. Please make checks payable to Hardin County Conservation. A non-refundable $4 processing fee is applied to online reservations. 
    3.  Renter is responsible for returning the shelter to the condition in which it was provided to them. No trash, decorations, or equipment are to be left at the shelter. No damage to facility structure, ground, or amenities. Return picnic tables to their original locations. Any additional cleaning is the responsibility of the renter.
    4.  The park closes at 10:30pm. All other park regulations adopted by the Hardin County Conservation Board are in effect and should be observed by rental party.

     

    Cancellation Policy

    All reservations with Hardin County Conservation Board facilities are final. If you need to cancel a reservation, you will forfeit 100% of all reservation fees paid, unless the following situations occur:  

     

    • The National Weather Service has issued severe weather and/or travel conditions.  

    • Hardin County Conservation is unable to provide your facility (or like facility) in operable condition for the date of your event.  

    • Accident, serious injury, or death of an immediate family member.  

     

    All cancellations and requests for refunds must be made by calling the Hardin County Conservation Board Office at (641) 648-4361.

    Celebrate your big life moments with a picture-perfect backdrop. The views and shelter at Sac & Fox Overlooks make for the perfect location to host your wedding ceremony, family reunion, graduation open house, or birthday party. Sac and Fox Wildlife Area spans 106.16 acres and the scenic overlook offers excellent sunset vistas and fall color viewing of the Iowa River Valley.

    Check-In / Out Availability Check-in is after 06:00 AM and check-out is before 10:30 PM.

    Located less than 2 miles north of Steamboat Rock, the Sac and Fox Overlook area is found 1 mile North of Steamboat Rock and is accessible from Co Hwy S56.

    Fees

    $250.00 per-day rental fee + $100.00 refundable security deposit

    Hours of Operation & Seasons

    The Sac and Fox facility is available from April 1st through November 1st each year.

    Hours of operation are from 6:00 AM and the facility closes at 10:30 PM.
