Environmental Education

The Henry County Conservation Department has a naturalist available for your organization, group, or classroom. Call for an appointment. Programs given at Oakland Mills Nature Center, in school classrooms, or at other facilities. We have an Environmental Education Classroom located in the Oakland Mills Nature Center!

Registration is online only unless otherwise stated.
Activities will be available on a first-come, first-served basis
. Online registration for youth summer camps will open the first business day in the month of April by 5:00 p.m. Register early- youth camps fill quickly.
 

Please read and consider the following before registering for any program: 

·      No refunds once registrations have been completed unless the program is canceled by the conservation staff. All programs must have at least 10 registered participants to be held unless otherwise noted. Check for cancellations by listening to KILJ 105.5 FM or our Facebook page, Henry County Conservation Dept.

·   Online preregistration is required along with any associated fees by posted deadline dates.

o   No charge for adults who attend youth summer camp activities with their child, however, no extra children are allowedChildren under 8 must be accompanied by an adult.

o   Note age requirements per program and all children requiring one-on-one aids while in school need adult accompaniment. An adult is any person age 18 years and older.  

o   It is the responsibility of the parent to read and adhere to age restrictions for each individual youth summer camp program as some of them may be a bit advanced for younger children. In the event the age guidelines are not followed for camps or other activities, a parent may be asked to stay, or the child may be dismissed from the activity with no refund.

·   All programs will begin and end at the Oakland Mills Nature Center unless otherwise noted in that program description. Rain or shine so dress accordingly. Avoid flip-flops and sandals.

·   It is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to inform conservation staff of allergies prior to the event.

By registering for these programs:

 

  1. You give permission for medical professionals to provide emergency services to yourself or your child(ren) if necessary and agree to hold the Henry County Conservation Board and Department, staff, and their volunteers harmless of any said illness, injury, or disease.
  2. You further understand and agree that your child(ren) as well as all members of your party will abide by the general rules of conduct and that violations may result in denial of future privileges, a forfeiture of fees, and immediate removal from the program activities.
  3. You also give permission for you, your child, or any member of your immediate group to be photographed by Henry County Conservation staff or media to be used for promotional purposes in all media outlets.
  4. You agree to follow COVID-19 safety procedures set out by the department (which follow CDC guidelines).
