Notice to Cabin Users and Campers

Three Mile Lake is scheduled to be drawn down 12’ starting Sept. 1 of 2023 for in-lake work on the sediment control basin, the placement of rip rap along the lake’s shoreline, and fish habitat work.  The lake will still be accessible via the middle lane at the main boat ramp.  Surface area of the lake will reduced.  Construction is expected to be complete by the spring of 2025. Scheduling on this project is tentative and may change.  Please visit this website for updates

The Lakeshore Cabin is a two-room cabin located by the lake between the main boat ramp and the beach area. It is equipped with 2 self contained heating and air-conditioning units, electricity, 3 sets of bunk beds and 2 queen sized sofa sleepers. Outside the cabin is a deck overlooking the lake and beach area, picnic tables, a charcoal grill, and a fire ring. There is no water inside the cabin. There are 2 pit latrines located near the cabin. For flush toilets and showers you will need to drive up to the shower house. The cabin can sleep up to 10 people. You must rent both Friday and Saturday for weekend stays otherwise it may be reserved by the day. FOR RESERVATIONS DURING THE MONTHS OF JANUARY AND FEBRUARY  OF EVERY YEAR YOU MUST CALL THE UNION COUNTY CONSERVATION BOARD OFFICE AT 641-347-5100 FOR RESERVATIONS.


Check-In / Out Availability Check-in is after 04:00 PM and check-out is before 02:00 PM.

Inside the Lakeshore cabin you will find 3 sets of bunk beds, 2 queen sized sleeper sofas, a queen sized futon, a microwave, stove/oven and a refrigerator. This cabin has 2 wall mounted heater/air conditioning units for year around comfort. There are cabinets for storage and a small open closet for hanging clothing and coats. Outside the cabin there is a deck, a patio area, charcoal grill, fire ring, water hydrant, and a picnic table. There are 2 pit latrines located near this cabin for restroom needs and the shower house is located about half a mile away for your shower and flush toilet needs.

Fees

The rates for this cabin is $80/night Sunday-Thursday and $90/night on Friday and Saturday. We do not split up our weekends so Friday and Saturday MUST be reserved together.

The Union County Conservation Board is located in south-central Iowa and his home to the 3350-acre Three Mile Lake Recreation Area. The Union County Conservation Board manages a total of 9 parks, recreation, and wildlife areas encompassing 3,790 acres about the county. Cabin reservation are made through this website by going to the FACILITIES tab to the left.  To make a cabin reservation for January or February, call our office at 641-347-5100.
