Environmental Education
The Wapello County Naturalist is here to help you learn more about Iowa's natural resources as well as provide engaging opportunities to get outside and be a steward for our world. Programs are offered to all Wapello County schools. Programs will also be scheduled for the general public so keep an eye on our events calendar. If you would like to schedule a program for your students, group, business or family please contact Naturalist Sara Runyan at srunyan@wapellocounty.org or you can call 641.682.3091. ext. 201.
Field Trips: Looking for something fun for your class to do? Want to get students learning Iowa Core Science Standards in a hands on way outside of the classroom? Call Sara to schedule a program today! Programs can be created around any standard that relates to natural resources or natural history so just ask and we will work something out. The only cost to you is busing, however if this is an obstacle, make sure to ask about the bus grant provided by the Wapello County Heritage Foundation.
Outreach Programs: These programs are designed because it is not always possible to do a field trip. An outreach program could still be catered to a science standard or any other natural resource/history topic but these would take place at your facility. These programs are popular in classrooms but are also designed for care centers, businesses, or other clubs and organizations that would like a lesson, topic or program brought to them.
Public Programs: Public programs are will be posted around the first of every month to our events page. These programs are for everyone to come and enjoy. Some will require registration or have a limit to how many people can attend so pay close attention to that as you are looking!
