Gypsum City OHV Park

The Gypsum City OHV Park is located on the southeast corner of Fort Dodge. The park is approximately 800 acres in size and includes 60 miles of trails for use by ATV's, side by sides and off-road motorcycles. The park also includes a 1.5 mile motocross track, an amateur supercross track, a .4 mile kids' track, a beginner circle track, and a skills development course. Trails within the park range from open prairie for novice riders to heavily timbered areas for more advanced riders and include water crossings and mudding areas. Trail head signs within the park will indicate what machines are allowed on certain trails. 

Required to ride:
• Iowa DNR Registration
• ATV Education Cert. (Age 12 - 17)
• Helmets 

Machines cannot be wider than 65 inches or weigh more than 2,000 pounds as per Iowa DNR regulations.

NONRESIDENTS must have their vehicles registered in their home state and evidence of registration must be in full force and effect. This requirement is waived for an operator if their home state does not have a registration or numbering system. 
All nonresidents must display an IDNR Nonresident User Permit. These are available at County Recorder's Offices and any license agent that sells hunting and fishing licenses. 


Campground
The campground offers both full-hook up and electric/water only sites. Site amenities will include water, electricity, sewer, picnic table, and grill. A men's and women's shower/restroom, informational kiosk and park office will also be on-site. Please refer to this webpage for updates. Gypsum City OHV Park is located 2 miles southeast of Fort Dodge, Iowa.  To get to the park from U.S. Highway 20 take exit 124 North (P59).  Go West on Mill Road, the park entrance will be on your left. 

Features


Current amenities at the park include an open shelter with picnic tables and grill, men and women’s restroom and an unloading dock in the front parking lot. Other amenities include a 1.5 mile MX track, youth track, circle track, fishing ponds, and 60 miles of trail accommodating ATV’s, motorcycles, and side by sides. 

Operating Hours & Seasons


The Gypsum City OHV Park is open year around and the hours of operation are from sunrise to sunset.   The park or phases of the park may be closed due to weather conditions or maintenance activity, please check the IDNR website for the most current status.  Be sure to check the current and future weather conditions for the area before making plans.

Campground will be open April 15 - October 15 annually.
